The Mikado is a hard act to follow

We can certainly be proud of our spring 2011 production of The Mikado. We played to full houses, with over 2600 appreciative audience members. Thanks to all the cast, directors, volunteers, patrons and sponsors who helped to make this the best show ever!

And now what? .....

Fall 2011: By popular demand, our fall show will be British Music Hall Version 2. More details will be forthcoming.

Spring 2012:

We are pleased to join with the Civic Orchestra of Victoria and Maestro George Corwin to produce a concert version of HMS Pinafore. The great music will be performed by 50 choral voices and a 50 piece orchestra.

Performances

• March 24 and 25, 2:00 pm at the Bodine Hall, Mary Winspear Centre, Sidney (Dress Rehearsal March 23)
  
• March 31 and April 1, 2:00 p.m. at the Oak Bay High School (to be confirmed) and a dress rehearsal on March 30
  

Auditions

• Will take place at the James Bay New Horizons, 234 Menzies St.
• Saturday, September 10 at 2:00 p.m. for men
• Sunday, September 11 at 2:00 p.m. for women

• For a solo part, or if you have never sung for George Corwin, please prepare a song from HMS Pinafore

Rehearsals

• At the James Bay New Horizons, beginning Sunday January 8 at 7:00 p.m. (for everyone)
  
• Chorus rehearsals Sundays 7 - 10 p.m.
• Soloist rehearsals at the Corwin residence, Mondays at 7:00 p.m.

Annual General Meeting

Please mark your calendar for the VGAS AGM on Sunday, June 12, 3:00 pm at 1109 Lyall St. in Esquimalt (the home of De Roger - thank you De.)

The event will be a potluck gathering, with arrivals, fellowship, membership renewals, and new membership sign-ups beginning at 3 pm, followed by the Annual General Meeting at 4 p.m. The first meeting of the new board, including any newly elected/appointed members, will take place immediately after the AGM.

Members who have indicated that they would like to stand for nomination to the board are: Karolien Swaak, Andrea Palin, Kathleen Burton and Derek Ellis.

As this is a potluck event, please indicate what dish you would like to bring by sending an e-mail to our Social Convener, Ern Roger, at ern1109@hotmail.com.
